Defensive end Ty Green (14) collects a sack during Friday’s victory for the Eagles over Zephyr. Jonesboro closes the season Friday with a home game with the Evant Elks. The Eagles lead District 15-1A, Division I with a 2-0 record. Evant is 1-1 and Zephyr 1-1. Lometa is 0-2. Last season the Elks knocked off the Eagles in the season finale to earn the No. 1 seed. Both Jonesboro and Evant earned playoff berths last season. Jonesboro can secure the outright title this season with a win Friday.

Seniors’ last district match

The Gatesville Lady Hornets closed out their District 18-4A schedule on Tuesday with seniors’ night. Part of the festivities was the senior walk where they pass the baton to underclassmen.
