Oglesby junior high girls fall short at Walnut Springs tournament

The Oglesby junior high Lady Tigers made a valiant effort in the Walnut Springs tournament; although all the games were very close, the Lady Tigers failed to make the finals of the tournament.

Oglesby lost their first game to the Kopprel Lady Eagles 18-16. The Lady Tigers rallied back in the second game to beat the Evant Lady Elks, 22-21. In the third game of the consolation bracket, the Lady Tigers fell to Morgan Lady Eagles, 28-19.

Top Finisher’s for the Lady Tigers included Makenzie Wright, who finished the tournament as the top scorer with 24 points, 19 rebounds, and six steals. Delaney Marfa scored 18 points, 19 rebounds, and six steals. Scarlet Arron scored seven points, 12 rebounds, and eight steals. Ali Chrisner scored eight points and six rebounds during the tournament. 

The Lady Tigers will travel to Aquilla on Monday, Jan. 29, for the last district game. The games will begin at 4:30 p.m.

The Tigers and Lady Tigers will play in the district tournament on Saturday, in Aquila, with times and opponents to be determined.
