Gatesville Parks & Recreation recently installed an onsite weather system at the Gatesville Sports Complex to inform athletes and park visitors about severe weather risks before they hit the field.
The system is powered by Perry Weather, a platform that provides real-time weather alerts, including wind, precipitation, temperature, and lightening detection. The system also provides text-to-speech messages and uses a professional meteorologist to help warn park goers about approaching weather conditions.
“For our sports leagues, park goers and tournaments, safety is paramount. This system ensures that players, coaches, and families are kept informed and protected against sudden weather changes, particularly lightning risks,” according to Gatesville Parks & Recreation’s Facebook page.
