Patsy Ann Ray, age 78, passed peacefully from this world at her home on October 17, 2022. There will be a private family service at a later date.
Patsy was born on March 30, 1944, to Henry and Erna Kettler. She was baptized, confirmed and served as a member at St. John Lutheran Church in Coryell City where she was raised on a small farm. She graduated from Gatesville High School. On June 23, 1962, she married Charles Ray and they built a wonderful life together and had adventures throughout the United States. They were blessed with two daughters, Mecca and Mona. Patsy enjoyed her years working at Gatesville Primary School where she loved reading books to the children. Patsy was a loving wife, mom and MeMaw who always thought of her family before herself. She spent many hours sewing beautiful clothes for her daughters and grandchildren, as well as Barbie and doll clothes, dance and cheerleading uniforms and Christmas stockings for every member of the family. She made sure every grandchild had handmade blankets, bibs, cross-stitched samplers and crocheted afghans. She was a wonderful cook and taught her daughters and grandchildren how to cook “from scratch”. She will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
Patsy was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Kenneth Kettler.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Charles; daughters Mecca and husband, Carroll Starkey, of Ater and Mona and husband, Casey Schwalbe, of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Colt Starkey and wife, Kelly, of Cleburne; Laci Shelton and husband, Chance, of Gatesville; Garrett Walker and special friend, Jennifer DeLeon, of China Springs; Meagan Burgan and husband, John, of Gatesville; great-grandchildren, Adelaide and Sloan Burgan, Luke Walker, Kyler, Kason and Presley Shelton and Kooper Hughitt as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
