GISD Staff Spotlight

Posted

During the April 22nd meeting of the Gatesville Independent School District Board of Trustees, Annie May was honored during Faculty Spotlight.

GISD Superintendent Dr. Barrett Pollard had the following to say about May:

“Annie May has been a high-performing employee for GISD for many years now. Annie has taken on the role of lead behavior teacher in our district because she works so well with students who struggle in that area. She helps mentor and gives ideas to other staff members when dealing with students with behavioral struggles. A few months ago, she even saved a child who was choking.”

Gatesville Elementary Principal, Keegan Webb, had the following to say: "Annie May has done a phenomenal job overseeing our PASS program. Annie strives to meet each child where they are and provide them the individual support they need to be successful. She goes above and beyond developing relationships with parents and students and providing teachers classroom support.”

Webb continued, “This year, Annie started a behavior RTI program called the Zones of Regulation, where she has served over 150 children this semester working proactively to teach our students emotional regulation strategies. Annie is a tremendous asset to our students, teachers, and campus. She makes Gatesville Elementary better each and every day. We also enjoy her great sense of humor.”
