Gay Charlotte Gartman, age 83, of Gatesville, passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, with her daughter by her side.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 24, at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel, with Minister Deral McWhorter officiating. Interment followed at Coffey Cemetery.

Gay Charlotte Painter Gartman was born on July 22, 1939, in Gatesville, to the late Jack and Geneva Truss Painter. She grew up in the White Hall community and attended school in Turnersville and Gatesville. She graduated from Turnersville High School in 1957. She married M.D. Gartman on Oct. 6, 1960, in the White Hall community. She worked at Farmland Industries in McGregor, until her retirement. After her retirement, she spent her time traveling with her family and attending knife shows with her husband. As a dedicated mother and grandmother, she attended every school and extracurricular activity. Her husband preceded her in death on Nov. 26, 1996. She was a lifetime member of the Church of Christ and member of the Cedar Ridge Church of Christ.

She was also preceded in death by her son, Jimmy Dale Gartman on April 5, 2022.

Mrs. Gartman is survived by a daughter, Marion Young and husband, Doug; grandchildren, Josh Young and wife, Chelsea; Jacob Young; Lariat Gartman; Lane Gartman and fiancé, Benito; Kelsie Smalley and fiancé, Dylan; great-grandchildren, Hayden, Quinton, Hattie, Sophia, Joshua, Isabella and Ansel. She is also survived by her loving care providers, Shane and Robin Sutton.
