Velma C. Lock January 30, 1925 – October 18, 2022

Velma C. Lock, age 97, of Gatesville, passed away on Tuesday, October 18, 2022.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Bruce Cox officiating.  The family will receive visitors one hour prior to services at the funeral home.  Interment will be at Jonesboro Cemetery.  For those unable to attend, Mrs. Lock’s services will be livestreamed at the link below her obituary at www.scottsfh.com.

Velma C. Lock was born on January 30, 1925, in Silverton, Texas to the late Neely and Sarah Dooley Rogers.  She grew up in the Levita community.  She married Coston Branham in July of 1943, and he preceded her in death in 1979.  She worked at Dykes Café and for A.J. and Martha Gordon and Barbara Simpson at the Sears Catalog Store; She later went to work at T.D.C.J. as a correctional officer, until her retirement.  She married Earl Lock in 1990 and they resided in Jonesboro.  He also preceded her in death in 2005. 

Velma enjoyed sewing and taking walks on their place in Jonesboro.  She loved to go dancing and traveling with Earl to visit family.  Most of all, she loved her family and spending time with them.

She was also preceded in death by her sons, Doug Branham, Doud Branham and daughter-in-law, Kathy Branham; grandson, Cody Parrish, sisters, Antha Cox, Imogene Ensley and a brother, Dooley Rogers.

Velma is survived by her children, James Branham; Steve Branham and wife, Kay; Evelyn Floyd; eight grandchildren, Miranda Allison and husband, Justin; Neely Branham; Caleb Parrish and wife, Jamie; Shanna Parrish; Justin Branham; Sarah Hukel and husband, Nick; Jody Branham and wife, Nikki; Lori Banks and husband, Les; fifteen great-grandchildren, Don Michael, Gia, Dylan, Trevor, Emily, Kason, Costin, Colbi, Mary Katherine, Lauren, Tyler, Cayla, Tres, Colten and Spencer.  She also had an extended family, whom she loved and held as her own children, Linda Lock Clary and husband, Bill, Cheri Lock Shepherd and husband, Dan, and Ronnie Lock; grandchildren, Christine Clary, Lauren O’Neil and husband, Robin, Charlena Lock and a great-granddaughter, Helen Claire O’Neil.
