Team Gatesville closes bowling season with two-day competition

Team Gatesville, a local Special Olympics team, recently closed its bowling season with an Area 12 Special Olympics Texas Bowling Competition.

The bowling competition was a two-day event that was held on Friday, Nov. 17 and Saturday, Nov. 18. Held yearly at Phantom Warrior Lanes at Fort Cavazos, volunteers attended the event from the Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP), the Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers (BOSS) program, three to 16 field artillery regiment, the second brigade combat team first cavalry division, and one to five Calvary Black Knights.

There were 14 delegations present at the competition and 347 students who competed. Five athletes from Team Gatesville placed, including:

  • Stephen Bush placed with a bronze medal.
  • Caitlin Clough placed with a gold medal.
  • Kevin Dolan won fourth place with a ribbon and a pin.
  • Jon Hannold won fourth place with a ribbon and a pin.
  • Tristen Tidrick placed with a silver medal.

To become a Team Gatesville athlete, you must be at least six years delay and upper age limit, have an intellectual disability or a comparable global developmental delay, and submit a medical physical form.
