This past week the track teams of Gatesville High School competed in the 4A Region III meet where two Lady Hornets punched their tickets to the upcoming state meet.
One of the Lady Hornets who will be advancing to the state meet will be senior Barret Boyd. She won first place in pole vault at regionals with a winning height of 12’1”. She also qualified for the finals in the 100-meter hurdles and the 300-meter hurdles on Saturday, April 20.
Junior Vania Martinez will also be advancing to the state meet with a runner-up finish in the 3200-meter run. Her time of 11:24 shattered the school record of 11:36, which Martinez set herself back in 2022.
The UIL Class 4A state meet will be held on Thursday, May 2, in Austin.
