Mrs. Lydia Rodriguez, age 80, of Gatesville, passed away on Friday, Oct. 14, 2022 peacefully at her home surrounded by family.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel, with Ryan Rodriguez officiating. Interment will follow at Restland Cemetery.
Lydia “Ama” “Lita” Rodriguez, was born on October 4, 1942 in Skidmore, Texas to the late Agustin and Adelfina Gonzales. She was raised in Texas and eloped with the love of her life Teodoro Rodriguez. They married in 1958 and raised their four children in Texas, Oklahoma, Nebraska and California. In 1979, her family settled in Gatesville, where she backboned the family to good and hardworking members of the community. She worked cleaning houses for wonderful folks in and around Gatesville and was considered more a close friend than an employee. She met the true definition of a “Shepherd” when it came to her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Teodoro Rodriguez, in 2002 and a daughter, Angie Murdoch in 2021.
Lydia is survived by her sons, David Rodriguez and wife, July; Robert Rodriguez and wife, Diane; Alex Rodriguez and wife, Sharon, stepdaughter, Margarita Martinez; and chingos of grandkids and great- grandkids and great, great-grandkids.
