Little House Bakery and Coffee Saloon to open bakery, coffee shop

Posted

A locally-owned bakery and coffee shop serving breakfast and lunch options will soon open in Gatesville, another win for the city’s small, local businesses.

The Coffee Saloon and Little House Bakery, formerly known as Little House Cakes, will open a joint bakery at 1306 E. Main Street across from the Gatesville HEB. The establishment will provide coffee from Coffee Saloon, pastries, and to-go food items such as breakfast sandwiches, soups, salads, and bagels.

“We came together hoping that we could bring more opportunity into Gatesville, something that nobody has had here before,” said Tasha McGehee, owner of Little House Bakery. “Somewhere they can come in and grab something that they can’t get anywhere else in town.”

This will be the first brick and mortar location for the two businesses. Little House Cakes opened in 2020 and has been operating out of McGehee’s house, while Coffee Saloon has operated out of a concession trailer since launching in 2022.

“We are super excited to see where it goes, and we hope that the community is excited, and that it’s only up from here,” said Jennifer Considine, owner of Coffee Saloon.

After officially announcing it on their Facebook page last week, members of the community were quick to respond with their support.

“I've said it over and over that is just what the small-town needs,” wrote one user on Coffee Saloon’s Facebook page.

While it is not set in stone yet, McGehee and Considine hope to officially open the bakery by Halloween.

“We hope to enhance the community as well and give back and, hopefully, do as much for the community as they have done for both of us, so far,” Considine said.

McGehee said the new hours are subject to change, but as of right now they plan to be open from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

“Coffee and pastries in the morning are just the perfect marriage,” McGehee said. “Hopefully, we can bring something new to the community that everyone will enjoy.”
