Letter to the Editor

Posted

This letter is to warn anyone on Medicare. Medicare scams are rampant! I was scammed on Friday, July 7, 2023. He said my card expired on Monday and Medicare would send me a plastic card. He had my Medicare number except the last four numbers. I was sick and fell for it.

He asked for my weight, height, and my primary care physician. The thing that made my hair stand up was when he asked for my favorite color. I asked what my favorite color had to do with Medicare. He said the shipping department would call me and they would need my favorite color. I called Medicare. They confirmed that it was a scam. They said that Medicare would never send you a plastic card.

On Monday, I got a call about Medicare Insurance. I hung up. On Tuesday, I got a call about sending me a new plastic card again. I kept asking him questions about things that he just told me. He wanted to know if I had Dementia, so I hung up.

On Friday, I got a call from Medicare saying he was from the shipping department. I hung up. After the call on Tuesday, I called Medicare. Again, she said Medicare will never call you, and she said we won’t get plastic cards.

I keep getting calls that say I’m due a new glucometer from CVS. I haven’t dealt with them in 20 years. Someone keeps asking me about pain in my back and know. I’ve been hanging up. I’m debating asking him which knee because I’m an amputee.
