Julia Ann Jones Davidson was born on May 21, 1935, in Childress, to Wallace and Frances Jones. She was raised on a farm with her twin sister Jane and four older brothers. During her sophomore year in high school, her family moved to Gatesville. She graduated from Gatesville High School in 1953, where she was a cheerleader and homecoming queen.
