Gatesville High School boys’ soccer played at Brownwood March 8 and were able to earn a tie with Brownwood, with a score of 1-1. The boys got a goal from Hector Silva in the closing minutes with an assist from Oswaldo Leon to secure the tie. On Tuesday, the boys lost to #4 ranked Salado, 1-3, getting a goal from Dustin Spilman, with the assist from Oswaldo Leon and Abraham Almendariz.
Prior to the games, the Hornets had secured a third-place district finish. Their playoff game opponent and date are yet to be decided. The boys finished their regular season, 12-4-4, with a 57 to 19 goal differential.
Gatesville girls lost to Brownwood, 0-3, on March 8. The girls have two remaining games on the year. They play at Salado and China Spring to close out their season. The girls have secured a 5th place finish in a very difficult 7-team district, which includes two top-five teams, #3 Salado and #5 Stephenville, with China Spring and Brownwood just out of the top 25.
