Gatesville Pack 272 holds the Annual Pine Car Derby

Posted

Pack 272 from Gatesville recently held its annual Pine Car Derby race. The race consists of each scout being given a solid block of wood, four axles, four wheels, and the race rules. The scout then carves the shape of the car they want, paints the body, and installs the wheels. After many test runs, they learned how to adjust the wheels for better movement and if their body design was the best choice. This event not only allows the scout to show their artistic side, but they also learn a wealth of information on aerodynamics and the importance of weight distribution. The results are as follows:

In their respective heats: Teddy Foster - 1st place and Best Paint Job, Alaric Fernandez - 2nd place and Best Wreck, Zevin Noriega - 3rd place and Most Imaginative.

Case Jones- 1st place and Best in Show, Maddie Harris - 2nd place and Best Sport, Colt Darragh - 3rd place and Most Aerodynamic.

Teague Jones- 1st place and Most Lost Parts, Joseph Longoria - 2nd place and Most Colorful, Ashton Daniels - 3rd place and Most Patriotic

Annalyn Buttry- 1st place and Turtle Mode, Olivia Daniels - 2nd  place and Most Futuristic, Gabe Hall - 3rd place and Most Creative.
