Continuing with the holiday safety tips, this week we would like to address personal safety for those that are doing their shopping in person.
This time of year is especially inviting to thieves in public spaces looking for easy to steal items. Whether at the mall or a local department store, please use caution in how you advertise your purchases.
Be aware of your surroundings and trust your instincts. If making multiple trips to different stores, please put your purchases out of sight in your vehicle and be aware of those that may be watching where you are placing those items. A good idea can be to get into your vehicle and drive to another entrance of the store, making anyone watching believe you have left. Park, walk and stay in well-lit areas with populated pathways and pay attention to your surroundings when using your electronics. If you see suspicious activity, please contact your local law enforcement agency.
