Wanda Johnson, age 58, of Gatesville, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully on Friday, December 23, 2022.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, December 31, 2022, at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Mike Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. Wanda Gale Johnson was born on August 28, 1964, in Gatesville.  She was the daughter of the late Mose and Hannah Jean Hainesworth Johnson. She attended school in Gatesville, graduating from Gatesville High School in 1982. She attended the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, where she received a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Business. She received her master’s degree in Education in Curriculum and Instruction. She began and continued her teaching career for Waco ISD in the Career Technical Education (CTE) Program, as well as coaching the Scarlet Line drill team, until her passing. At a young age, she gave her life to Christ and was a member of Harvesting Souls International Church. She became the first Elder in the Church and was the Director of the Youth and Children’s Department for 25 years. She was a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Mose Johnson and Eddie Johnson; and a nephew Kevin Johnson Sr.

Wanda is survived by her brothers, Mike Johnson and wife Martha, and Phill Johnson; sister Charlotte Smith; nieces and nephews Kischiane, Torie, Tasha, Hannah, Chris and Dewayne; and a host of great nieces, nephews, family and friends.
