Doris Smart, age 100, of the Levita community, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 18, 2022, in Gatesville.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, 2022, at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Hillsdale Cemetery in Izora.
Doris Aylene Smart was born on Oct. 28, 1921, in the King community, to the late Homer and Lela Dickie Baize. She grew up and went to school in the King community. She married Howard Smart on May 17, 1941. She was the cafeteria manager for the Gatesville Independent School District at the Primary School until her retirement. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and attended Boots and Saddle Cowboy Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Smart on May 12, 2015; an infant daughter, Judy in 1942; great-grandson, Ash Donovan Wright; sister, Billie Hogan; brothers, James Baize and Lorraine Baize.
Doris is survived by sons, Donnie Smart and wife, Patsy, Larry Smart and wife, Theresa; sister-in-law, Freda Martin Cook; grandchildren, Keith Smart and wife, Kay, Amy Craft and husband, Bryan, Ross Smart and wife, Jessica, Margaret Wright, Mark Harvey and wife, Brittany, and Michael Harvey and fiancé, Kailey Story; great-grandchildren, Morgan Smart, Marley Smart, Caden Craft, Brody Craft, Shaylie Smart, Joli Archie, Jacy Archie, Maely Harvey, Rhys Wright, Lucas Wright; one expected great-great grandchild on the way; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hillsdale Cemetery Association, 7701 FM 1690, Copperas Cove, TX 76522.
