Oglesby Tigers dominated May in last week’s matchup

The Oglesby Tigers were an 18-point underdog, coming into Saturday’s game against the #8 Division I, May Tigers.

The Oglesby Tigers took over and dominated May the entire game, defeating the May Tigers, 54 to 8. The Oglesby Tigers allowed only one touchdown for May in the first quarter, and held steadily the rest of the game.

Oglesby held May on the 2 goal line stands, and controlled the field throughout the game. Excellent running, blocking, throwing, catching, and tackling by the Oglesby Tigers and strategic play-calling by Coach Dixon, set the Tigers up for success and kept their record perfect at 6-0. 

Offensively for the Tigers:

Kyler Fossett had his usual success tonight, carrying the ball nine times for 160 yards rushing. He also had three touchdowns, his longest being a 65-yard scramble to the end zone. Fossett had one pass reception for 16 yards, for a total of 176 all-purpose yards. 

Edward Aviles, Jr had a break out night with six carries for 86 yards and three touchdowns. His longest run was 50 yards to paydirt. Aviles had one reception for 35 yards and one 20-yard kickoff return, for a total of 141 yards on the night.

Johnny Gomez had one carry for nine yards and a touchdown. 

Landon Williamson had two receptions for 66 yards, and his longest was a 33-yard touchdown reception. He also had an interception he returned for 20 yards for a total of 86 yards. 

Quarterback Hunter Walters, was four for four passing for 117 yards, including a 33-yard touchdown pass. 

Kicker Alex Castillo was three for eight on PATs for total of six points. 

The Oglesby Varsity Tigers had 529 total team yards.

Defensively for the Tigers:

Edward Avila, Jr. had nine tackles and one fumble recovery. 

Johnny Gomez had nine tackles.

Landon Williamson had seven tackles and one interception. 

Jakson Tippit had seven tackles and one fumble recovery. 

Kyler Fossett had five tackles.

Jack Hendricks had four tackles. 

Joel Gonzales had two tackles. 

Hunter Walters had one tackle.
