Setting the tone for success

Posted

As members of the athletic department at Gatesville ISD, head football coach Aaron Hunter and his staff members understand the importance of setting an excellent example for the GISD student-athletes in everything they do

"We are teachers before we are coaches, and we firmly believe coaches have the opportunity to positively impact just as many students in the classroom as they do on the field," he said. "Dressing professionally is just a small way that we can help set the tone of how important education is and that, ultimately, education will always take you further than your athletic ability will."

The administration at Gatesville ISD is very supportive of athletics, and coach Hunter said that he and his staff must do their part to help make the whole campus successful. He and his coaches do that by always talking with their athletes about how they represent something bigger than themselves.

"We as coaches have to have the same mentality, eyes are always watching us, and we must practice what we preach," he said.

Hunter said the coaches strive daily to positively impact those around them, and that their appearance and body language are a big part of that.
