Ruby LaVerne Necessary, age 88, of Gatesville passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, July 9, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, July 12, at 10 a.m. at the Gatesville Church of Christ with Minister Lloyd Hall officiating. Burial followed at Pearl Cemetery.

LaVerne was born March 6, 1934, in Pearl to William Alvis Davis and Hattie Ruth (DeLoach) Davis. She graduated from Pearl High School in 1951. In August 1976, she married Dwaine Necessary, joining their families for a total of nine children.

LaVerne enjoyed gardening, quilting and attending her grandchildren’s school and sporting events. She was famous for her cooking, often hosting big family dinners. She especially loved having her family together for Christmas Eve. She loved her family; she loved the Lord, and she had a servant’s heart. LaVerne could light up the room with her smile.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Wayman, Joe Wilburn, Ervin, Erwin, LaVetta Davis, and Irene Schroeder; and a grandson, Kane Necessary.

LaVerne is survived by her husband, Dwaine Necessary; children, Sharon Pancake and husband, Albert, Karen Massingill and husband, Gary, Pauline Johnston and husband, Tom, Jimmy Williamson and wife, Paula, Clifton Smith and wife, Whitney, Terry Necessary and wife, Donna, Keith Necessary and wife, Tommie, Cris Necessary and wife, Debbie, and Heather Barnett and husband, Kevin; 26 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Gatesville Church of Christ, 2417 E. Main Street, Gatesville.

For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. - 1 Thessalonians 4:16
