Senior Warden Andrea Lozada, of Gatesville, was presented the Criminal Justice Administrator of the Year award during the 29th Annual Governor’s 2024 Criminal Justice Volunteer Service Awards Ceremony Friday.

The award was presented by Texas First Lady Cecilia Abbott, Texas Board of Criminal Justice Chairman Eric Nichols, and Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) Executive Director Bryan Collier at a ceremony in Austin.

We are incredibly honored to present these awards to such dedicated volunteers," Nichols said. "Their tireless efforts go above and beyond, and their contributions are invaluable to TDCJ. No words or awards can truly express our gratitude for their time and talents."

"These volunteers are true heroes," Collier said. "Their compassion and commitment make a profound and lasting difference in the lives of many Texans. TDCJ, and the entire state, is better because of their service."

Lozada’s exceptional leadership and dedication to the mission of the agency is evident. Under her guidance, the Patrick O'Daniel and Hilltop Units have experienced remarkable growth in their evidence-based programming, positively impacting the lives of inmates and those preparing for reentry. Her personal involvement in each program ensures the highest level of value and effectiveness for all participants. Warden Lozada's extensive knowledge and hands-on approach, combined with the unwavering commitment and professionalism of her staff, have contributed to the agency's continued success.

Lozada was one of 22 individuals and organizations from across the state recognized for their efforts to help inmates and those who are on parole or probation. They donate many hours of their personal time every year with the goal of changing lives.
