Congratulations to Trent Ray for his outstanding showing in the state meet in Brownsville last week!! Trent placed 5^th in Discus and 7^th in Shotput in his division!! He battled heat, humidity, and a lightning storm during the meet and still accomplished this huge feat!! Trent is the son of Misti and Chris Ray, the grandson of Ronald and Linda Ray, and the nephew of Ryan and Laredo Ray. There are some mighty proud cousins and extended family and church family in Pearl, too!! Awesome, Trent!!

The next Pearl Bluegrass and Pearl Cottage Bookstore day will be September 9^th (it’s always the second Saturday in September due to a long-standing first Saturday family reunion); the Pearl Church of Christ Atchley Fish Fry and Silent Auction for His Kids will be the 3^rd of September with items set up to view by August 21^st;  the next Pearl Cemetery workday will be October 14^th with a reschedule date if necessary due to inclement weather of October 21^st; and the Pearl Church of Christ 128^th Reunion will be October 15^th.  Mark your calendars, and please know that everyone is cordially invited to attend any and all of these events!

I have a confession to make: last week, I noted that the price of The Pleasure and Profit Club book is $150. Well, no, it is $15! My fingers just got carried away, I guess. So, if that huge price scared you away from purchasing this treasure of Pearl, fear not! It really is only $15, and what a bargain that is! Any of the history books of Pearl happenings that are available for purchase at the Pearl Cottage Bookstore would make wonderful Christmas gifts for any Pearl history buffs! They are as follows:
