May 4 marks the next Bluegrass and Cottage Bookstore event

Posted

The next Pearl Bluegrass event and Pearl Cottage Bookstore Day will be May 4. The bluegrass event usually has jammers the evening before. The bookstore opens at 9 a.m. on that Saturday and closes at 3 p.m. Everyone is always invited, so mark your calendars!

The Pearl Church of Christ will hold its annual VBS May 27 through May 31, from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. each day. The theme this year is “Jesus loves You!” Be sure and mark your calendars, and please tell all your friends and family. The Pearl Church of Christ VBS is epic, and you don’t want to miss it.

The Pearl Church of Christ reports that a wonderful service with Dr. Charles Patterson was held last Sunday. Dr. Patterson and his wife, Clara, braved the heavy rain and drove to Pearl from Corsicana on the Saturday before to share God’s Word there. He and Clara loved the beautiful drive to Pearl that Sunday morning and loved the church even more. Several people that had Dr. Patterson as principal and superintendent in Killeen enjoyed visiting with the Pattersons that day. The church reports that they were truly blessed by their visit and hope they will come back soon.

Let’s check in with the ladies of the Pleasure and Profit Club: “May 10, 1934, the club met with Mrs. Holbert Whitt. One quilt was quilted, one pieced, one paper costume made, one dish towel embroidered, and some work done on a string quilt, which was started 16 years ago. The President called the house to order at 2:30 o’clock. The minutes were read, and roll was called. Twenty-three members were present. Mrs. Cooper sent word that she would love for us to quilt three quilts for her. We will decide at our next meeting what we shall do. It was decided that Bessie Earl, and Polly, and any others who could, shall go to Gatesville Monday to see what they can do to help secure a home demonstration agent for Coryell County. We also decided to have a Sunflower Club and draw names for our pals. We will let it be known in July who our pals are. $1.55 was paid in for dues, and $.76 paid to finish our $5.00 we paid back to the school, leaving $.79 in treasury. The dinner was enjoyed very much by all present. We adjourned to meet with Mrs. Whitt and Bessie Earl May 24.”

This week’s Bible verse comes from Romans 1:20—"For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—His eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.” NIV
