A puppy wearing a bowtie attended church services

The next Pearl Bluegrass event and Pearl Cottage Bookstore Day will be May 4. The bluegrass event usually has jammers the evening before. The bookstore opens at 9 a.m. on that Saturday and closes at 3 p.m. Everyone is always invited, so mark your calendars.

The Pearl Church of Christ will hold its annual VBS May 27 through May 31, 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. each day. The theme this year is “Jesus loves You!” Be sure and mark your calendars, and please tell all your friends and family. The Pearl CofC VBS is epic, and you don’t want to miss it.

Upcoming speaker at the Pearl Church of Christ: Dr. Charles Patterson, retired Superintendent of the Killeen ISD and currently ministering and living in Corsicana, will speak on April 21. Dr. Patterson is a native of Hamilton.

Linda Ray reported that the cutest little puppy attended church with the Coles last Sunday. The little Shih Tzu even wore a little bowtie in honor of the occasion. Linda told Ron McDonald that if a puppy can wear a bowtie, then certainly he can don that attire each Sunday morning. Don’t you just know that Ron would look adorable, and Marilyn would be so proud to sit by her cute husband in that tie. (But alas, Ron, you’ll never look as cute as Marilyn always does no matter what you wear, sigh).

I was so blessed this past weekend to have all four of my grands and both of my sons with me. We had the best time. The girls are 10, 9, and 7, and my grandson is 4. We attempted to go to the zoo in Lufkin, but the wait time to get in was over an hour. We should have guessed that everyone and their grandma would be at the zoo on that Saturday as the weather was absolutely gorgeous. Since the zoo was out of the question, we went to a natural history museum, and the kiddos loved it.

We then went to a Cajun restaurant where I watched my grands and their dads eat things like crawfish, boudin, and other such “delicacies,” while I ate plain old catfish. This Grammie is not an adventurous eater. We rounded up the Saturday outing by the pool where the kids swam like fish in the freezing cold water for several hours. How they stood it, I don’t have a clue; however, they slept very soundly that night…and so did I. They all decided that they’d all bring their golf clubs for the next get together. Sounds like a wonderful plan to me. Aren’t grands the best? God is so, so good!

This week’s Bible verse comes from John 15:4,5—"Remain in Me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches. If you remain in Me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing.” NIV
