Pearl Church of Christ raised funds for His Kids of Lampasas

Posted

The Pearl Church of Christ reports that they had another excellent annual Valentine’s Silent Auction for His Kids on Feb. 11, thanks to the community and everyone who participated in this very worthy cause. Sixteen of His Kids from Lampasas and several of their leaders were able to be in attendance. Thank you, Angel Norton and Juan and Mary Garcia, for bringing those sweet kids. These leaders gave a report which told the church that 18 to 24 kids continue to meet at Grace Assembly in Lampasas each week, and that they continue to be able to send kiddos to His Hill Camp in Comfort each summer due to the donations from the Valentine’s Auction.

Richard Williams would be so proud that the program which he started nearly 40 years ago is still thriving to this day. We continue to honor Richard’s memory and the love he had for the Lord. “Big R”
(as he was called) had a heart for kids, and his greatest desire was to see that all kids had the opportunity to know the Lord. He even made sure the kids had basic necessities. Richard also served Lampasas as a DPS trooper for many years, and he often filled the pulpit at Pearl Church of Christ during his lifetime. What a blessing it was to know Big R, and what a blessing it is to continue to love and serve His Kids today.

The next Pearl Bluegrass and Pearl Cottage Bookstore Day is March 2. The bluegrass event goes on all day in the Pearl Community Center. The Pearl Cottage Bookstore opens at 9 a.m. and closes at 3 p.m. Be sure and drop by the friendliest store in Texas to visit with “the girls” who operate this neat little store in the historic teacherage on the community center grounds. Remember, all proceeds go toward the bookstore’s local charities, and most every purchase is by donation. The bookstore ladies call it “buy what you want, pay what you want!” You’ll not only leave the store with some wonderful books and/or other treasures, but you’ll leave knowing that you helped the community. There’s no place like Pearl!

This week’s Bible verse comes from Matthew 19:14—But Jesus said, “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children.” NIV
