Lt. Col. And Mrs. James J. O’Brien III marked their 55th wedding anniversary on Thursday, Oct. 26.
James and Linda were married at Live Oak Baptist Church by Rev. Royce Christmas. Maxine Fry, the bride’s mother, was the wedding planner, and K.R. Fry sold one cow to cover the cost of the wedding.
Following graduation from Southwest Texas State College in San Marcus, James entered the Air Force where he served for 22 years. Together, the couple lived in many places and returned to Gatesville upon their retirement where James worked at Central Texas College as Director of Facilities. Linda worked for the Windham School District as a vocational teacher.
They are the parents of two sons and have six grandchildren.
