As I typed the Pearl News today, I realized that this was the first time I’ve officially typed “2024.” I also realized that if you are reading this on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024, then you need to go to Pearl for the monthly Pearl Bluegrass event and the Pearl Cottage Bookstore Day. These events take place at Pearl Community Center on FM 183. The bluegrass goes on throughout the day, but the bookstore opens at 9 a.m. and closes at 3 p.m. You better hurry (but don’t drive too fast). I hope you all are enjoying 2024 so far, but you can enjoy it even more if you go to Pearl, because ... there’s no place like Pearl.
The next Pearl Community Center quarterly board meeting will be Jan. 22, at 6:30 p.m., at the Community Center. The public is invited to attend.
This week’s Bible verse comes from Isaiah 43:16 and Isaiah 43:18,19—This is what the Lord says—He who made a way through the sea, a path through the mighty waters, “Forget the former things, do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing. Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland." NIV
Please pray for continued blessings of rain, for our veterans and service men and women, our country, our schools, our local, state, and national government officials, our law officers, Christians throughout the world, and Israel. (My list just keeps getting longer, but I feel like you all add to it yourselves daily … and thank you for all those prayers).
