Bell County Master Gardeners release October events schedule

The Bell County Master Gardeners Association recently announced their events schedule for the month of October. For those interested in gardening, the events held during the month are:

 

Sept. 29 through Oct. 21

 

The Bell County Master Gardener Association will be holding an on-line Fall Bulb Sale beginning Sept. 29 through Oct. 21. There will be several varieties of bulbs available for you to choose from that will grow well in Bell County. Please visit our website at https://txmg.org/bell/ for more information. 

 

Oct. 5

The Bell County Master Gardener Association will hold a Bulb Expo on Thursday, Oct. 5, Come-and-go between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Texas Agrilife Extension Office, BCMGA Learning Center, 1605 N. Main St., Belton. Certified Master Gardeners will be available to provide information about the bulbs that we will have available for the Fall Bulb Sale. Oct. 19

 

Please plan to join us for the Bell County Master Gardener Association Free Monthly Seminar “Onions and Garlic” on Thursday, Oct. 19, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Texas Agrilife Extension Office, BCMGA Learning Center, 1605 N. Main St., Belton. Certified Master Gardener William Walker will discuss the great opportunities for the residential gardener to enjoy these wonderful vegetables right in the home garden with careful variety selection and proper cultural practices.

Oct. 24

The Bell County Master Gardener Association and the Harker Heights Activities Center present a Special Event Seminar “Rainwater Harvesting” on Tuesday, Oct. 19, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Harker Heights Activities Center, 400 Indian Trail, Harker Heights. Certified Master Gardener Teri Marceau will discuss how the lack of rain in our streams and reservoirs, that includes Lake’s Belton and Stillhouse, has impacted our gardens, trees, and lawns. Teri will be addressing the importance of water conservation and how to capture rainwater.

The Bell County Master Gardener Association presents a Hands-On Workshop “Holiday Herb Compound Butter & Cream Cheese Spreads” on Saturday, Oct. 28 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Texas Agrilife Extension Office, 1605 N. Main St., Belton.  Certified Master Gardener’s, Jeanne Richard and Charlotte Nunnery will teach you how to elevate your holiday table or consumable gift-giving using fresh herbs like sage, rosemary, and thyme. In class, participants will enjoy tasting samples of different compound butters and cream cheese spreads, as well as receive a variety of recipes. Each class member will be able to prepare and make their own herb compound butter and cream cheese spread to take home.  You may even win a delectable door prize!
