4-H News

Posted

Congratulations to our Junior Leaders 4 Life Team for beating two other teams and capturing second place at the District 8 Contest this past week.

Leaders 4 Life is a competition that allows 4-H youth to demonstrate their knowledge of parliamentary procedure. Team members include Lillie Mann, president; Thomas Belt, vice president; Lilly Kinsey, secretary; and Callie Smith, treasurer.

All 4-H members are reminded that each family is asked to sell 10 raffle tickets for the county-wide 4-H fundraiser. The tickets are $10 each and the winner of the drawing gets over $1,200 worth of gift cards and certificates to area restaurants and retailers. The drawing will be held at the peewee shows during the Coryell County Youth Fair.

The Texas 4-H Foundation Scholarship portal is open. Applications are due Feb. 15. Seniors are asked to submit their applications for review to Agent Coward by Jan. 13 for feedback and revisions. Last year, Coryell County 4-H members were awarded $61,000 in 4-H Foundation Scholarships alone.

Other notable dates: The County 4-H Ambassador Team will have their annual Christmas Party on Dec. 19. The County Extension Office will be closed Dec. 23-26 for the Christmas holidays.

The Coryell County Youth Fair kicks off Jan. 9 and will be a week full of fun for our members. The public to invited to attend.
