Fall 4-H contests are in full swing as our county teams have done an outstanding job of dedicating their time in pursuing their passions in their 4-H projects. As our members learn, grow, and compete together, they continue to build on their project knowledge and success. Recent results from District 8 4-H contests are proof that hard work and ambitious attitudes yield success. Congratulations to the following teams on their recent accomplishments!

The Leaders 4 Life contest has members enact a business meeting with an agenda and problems to solve by exercising certain motions from Robert’s Rules of Order.

With the approaching holiday season, a season of thanksgiving and giving, it’s enjoyable to take time to reflect upon the past year. Scrolling through my camera roll on my phone usually helps remind me of all the wonderful blessings encountered and fun memories made. It’s also always very rewarding to see the growth that took place in our 4-H club members throughout the year. It makes my heart happy to see their leadership skills evolve, fear of public speaking subside, and just the overall learning that takes place in a year’s time. 4-H has so many tremendous opportunities for youth to grow, and those opportunities would not be possible without the dedication of our volunteer adult leaders. It takes a special someone who is willing to make others a priority and sees the value of how much 4-H offers our youth, someone who is willing to give of their time and talents to share their knowledge. My faith is renewed each year as I am so thankful for adult volunteers who help make our 4-H program a success by continuing to give unselfishly. “There is nothing stronger than the heart of a volunteer.” May your season of thanksgiving remind you and yours of all the blessings we have and ways to bless others by the sharing of our time and talents to help others!

Our teams are continuing in the winning tradition and learning valuable lifelong skills. For more information about joining 4-H, please contact us at the county office at 254-865-2414 or check out our 4-H membership guide found at Coryell.agrilife.org.
