Richard Fred Schaub, Jr., beloved father, and “Pops” passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, in Temple, at the age of 81. 

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at Arnett Cemetery, near Gatesville, with Chaplain Gary Baxley officiating. Memorial services will be announced at a later date, for Richard and his wife, Lynne in Temple.

Richard was born on August 12, 1941, to Fred and Maudine Collings Schaub in Gatesville. He attended Gatesville High School and earned a master’s in political science from Baylor University. He was married to Lynne Elkins Schaub of Temple, for 54 years before she preceded him in death on September 22, 2021. Richard loved the Lord and faithfully attended First Baptist Church of Temple. He was a professor teaching political science at Temple Junior College. He served others well as a longtime employee of Bell County Rehabilitation Center, where he oversaw a facility that specialized in adolescents with physical impairment. He later transitioned and served a community of people experiencing homelessness at Martha's Kitchen and Shelter for the remainder of his working life. Outside of his working career, Richard spent years taking care of his parent's farm and enjoyed being a dedicated Baylor University football, basketball, and baseball fan over the years. 

He was deeply loved and is survived by his daughter, Lisa Schaub and grandson, Caleb of Georgetown.
