Debra “Debbie” Aiken, age 66, of Gatesville, passed away on the morning of February 20, 2022, in Waco.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, 2022, at Mountain Baptist Church with a lunch following for family and friends.
Debbie was born on Sept. 17, 1955, in Columbus, Ohio to Matye “Ferne” Cockrell and Doran E. Belknap Sr. She grew up and attended school in Gilmer and Lewisville and graduated from Lewisville High School. Debbie grew up playing the piano in churches and recitals. She continued playing the piano and pipe organs throughout her life. She accepted a role as pianist at Mountain Baptist and continued in that service until her passing. Debbie loved holidays and spending time with family especially Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. She also adored her animals and referred to them as her “fuzzy fur children.”
She was preceded in death by her father, Doran E. Belknap Sr.
Debbie is survived by her children, Jennifer Stephens and Chris Aiken and wife, Stephanie; mother, Ferne Cockrell Belknap; grandchildren, Alyssa Bates, Payton Stephens, Joseph and David Rodriquez; brother, Doran E. Belknap Jr.; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, great aunts, and uncles.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to CCPR No Kill Rescue 2217 E. Main St. Gatesville, TX 76528.
