Farmers lend helping hand to Jonesboro widow

In small communities, it is often the case that your neighbors and friends have a way of coming together and supporting each other in a time of crisis. Such was the case recently in the Jonesboro community.

All a’bloom

All a’bloom

Just a block off the courthouse square on Saunders Street is this Texas Blue Agave that was planted almost 15 years ago by Marilyn McDade. She reports that this is the first time it has ever bloomed. The Texas Agaves usually produce a flower stalk that can be at least 15 feet tall. The plant uses all its reserves to produce the massive stalk and then after blooming, the plant usually dies, but is replaced by small offshoots around the base. Photo by Janice Velasquez
