DEMO day

As in the song about Jericho, “and the walls came tumbling down…” Following the devastating fire on the historic courthouse square three months ago, demolition on the remaining structures began in the early morning hours of Tuesday, June 16.

Museum Spotlight

Visitors to the Coryell Museum and Historical Center should take the time to explore the second floor of the museum. Upstairs, visitors will find an arrowhead exhibit, fossil exhibit, a chuckwagon, a loom, and many other treasures.

Gatesville Messenger set to hold Grand Reopening event

It’s been a little more than three months after a historic fire claimed the previous Gatesville Messenger’s 116 South 6th St. location on the square.

1996 (Thirty years ago)Gay Thompson of Evant was enjoying the blooms on her century plant. She had waited for 15 years for the plant to bloom.A groundbreaking ceremony was scheduled for Coryell Memorial Hospital’s expansion project which was to include individual living units.
