Oglesby High School football coach Jeb Dixon said the Tigers have some work to do, despite posting a 52-32 victory over the Ranger Bulldogs Friday.

Senior Blake Thompson helped lift the Tigers in their season opener with 15 carries for 162 yards. He had a hand in three touchdowns and also picked up 10 tackles on defense.

Johnny Gomez added 72 yards rushing or the Tigers offense.

“We’re really young,’’ Dixon said. “We’re learning, we made too many mistakes. We can get better.’’

The Oglesby defense was sparked by sophomore Cash Lee with 15 tackles, Matthew Castillo with 14 tackles and Thompson with 10 stops.

Lee and Castillo had two receptions each for a total of 62 yards.

The Tigers are scheduled to face Morgan starting at 7:30 p.m. Friday, on the road.
