he Gatesville High School boys and girls soccer teams had their seasons come to a close Thursday when they were defeated in their bi-district playoff games at Robinson High School.
The GHS boys were edged out by a 2-1 margin by the to Mexia Black Cats after a goal was scored with 49 seconds left in the game.
The lone scorer for the Hornets was Hector Silva Hernandez. The girls fell in their playoff game to Lorena, 2-0. The game was tough for the girls, as the Lady Leopards invaded their territory countless times to put themselves into scoring positions.
“I like the fight and the character that I saw.” GHS soccer coach Scott Campbell said. "They didn’t stop fighting.”
The boys finished their season with a 10-8-1 overall record.
Meanwhile, the Lady Hornets finished with a 14-6-2 season mark.
