THSCA honors athletes from local school districts with Academic All-State Team awards

The Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA) has recognized local athletes across the district with Academic All-State Team awards, which were released on Monday, Dec. 4, 2023.

The recognition comes with acknowledgment of the hard work shown both in the classroom and on the field while still excelling academically in grade point average (GPA) and class rank as well as SAT and ACT scores.

Honorees have the chance to receive the following awards: Elite, First-Team, Second-Team, and Honorable Mention.

The following students were awarded with Academic All-State Awards:

Gatesville High School

  • Lawson Mooney, First-Team Football Academic All-State Team Award
  • David Sims, Second-Team Football Academic All-State Team Award
  • Sean Aguilar, Second-Team Football Academic All-State Team Award
  • JT Coffman, Second-Team Football Academic All-State Team Award
  • Tommy Aaron, Honorable Mention Football Academic All-State Team Award

Oglesby High School

  • Landon Williamson, Honorable Mention Football Academic All-State Team Award

Jonesboro High School

  • DeMarcus Acoff, Honorable Mention Football Academic All-State Team Award

Evant High School

  • Cason Ingram, First-Team Football Academic All-State Team Award
  • Caystin Forrest, Honorable Mention Football Academic All-State Team Award

The THSCA is the largest coach’s association in America, with over 26,000 members. The organization provides quality representation, education, and services to Texas high school coaches and affiliate members while enhancing the professionalism of coaches and the schools they represent.
