Lady Eagles softball captures bi-district champs title

The Jonesboro Lady Eagles softball team are wrapping up their regular season with a perfect 6-0 record in District 12-1A.

The ladies took the title of District Champions on Tuesday, April 23 when they played against Blum with an ending score of 20-10.

During the game against Blum, the ladies fell 7-0 in the top of the second inning.

“The girls truly made us proud with their relentless determination they displayed throughout the game and came together and fought back to win the game 20-10 in six innings,” coach Amanda LeCroy said.

The team finished with an overall record of 16-7, winning 13 out of the past 15 games of the regular season.

The Lady Eagles competed in the bi-district playoffs on Thursday, April 25 and on Friday, April 26.

On Thursday, the ladies opened the playoffs with a first-round matchup against District 11 Runner Up, Huckabay, where they won 8-3 with eight runs and 11 hits. On Friday, they went up against the same team and won 15-0 in four innings with 15 runs and 16 hits.

“We, as a coaching staff, have been very proud of our girls,” LeCroy said.

The Lady Eagles advanced to the regional quarter finals where they played their third and final game of the playoffs in Weatherford against Saint Jo on Thursday, May 2.

“It has been very exciting to see the how the girls have grown throughout the season by pushing themselves to improve, learning and growing from each game, while they lift each other up as one,” LeCroy said. “We are excited to see how the girls push through the playoffs moving forward.”
