Oglesby Tigers Junior High boys' basketball remain 5-1 this season

The Oglesby Junior High Tigers Boys basketball team dropped their first game of the season to Mt. Calm Panthers with a score of 48 to 30 in Mt. Calm. In a district contest, Oglesby’s record is now four to one for the year.

The leading scorer for the Tigers was Holdyn Goff with 17 points, including three 3 pointers, five rebounds, two steals, two assists, and one blocked shot. Evan Williamson scored seven points and had one assist. Caiden Brinkley scored four points for the Tigers. Blayze Fisher finished out the scoring with two points. Mason Marquez grabbed five rebounds and two steals for the Tigers.

The Tigers hosted the Gholson Wildcats Jan. 22, defeating them, 46 to 5. All Tigers saw action in the district contest.

Holdyn Goff continued to lead the team in scoring, dropping in 22 points, seven rebounds, one assist, two steals, and one blocked shot. Evan Williamson scored 14 points, four rebounds, two steals, and one blocked shot. James Bankhead hit five points, including one three-pointer. Liam Ammerman scored two points and one steal. Couper Wulfkhule made two free throws. Caiden Brinkley made one free throw.

Other Tigers that saw action were Aiden Aviles, Blayze Fisher, Mason Marquez, Kaden Bagley, Jacob De La Torre, Hunter Insall, AJ Marfa, Brody Martinez, Rancher Jeffcoat, and Ashton Thompson.

The Tigers’ record was five to one going into the Walnut Springs tournament that began Jan. 25.
