Hornet football athletes receive All-State recognition

Posted

Over the past week, two Hornet football players, Lawson Mooney and Zach Bryant, were honored with All-State awards.

Senior Lawson Mooney was selected to the All-State second team. He is the 11th player in Hornet history to be named to the second team and the first in almost a decade.

Mooney has set multiple records over his career with Gatesville High School, his achievements include having 519 tackles, receiving District Defensive MVP twice, being named Newcomer of the Year, getting multiple selections to the All-Super Centex teams, and receiving numerous players of the week awards from multiple outlets.

Senior Zach Bryant, offensive lineman for the Hornet football team at Gatesville High School, has been selected to the All-State third team.

Bryant’s selection to the third team is a true testament to his growth and work ethic as he has worked hard over the past four years on the field.

Both athletes will have the privilege of being named to the Hornets Wall of Honor.
