TWENTY YEARS AGO (2003)

Darell Lisenbe resigned as chief appraiser of the Coryell County Appraisal District.

A ceremony was held to dedicate a Texas Historical Marker for the Harman School Community Center.

Tiger Cubs from Pack 272 received a tour of the Gatesville Volunteer Fire Department.

The Mother Neff State Park Association celebrated its 10th anniversary.

Live Oak Baptist Church sponsored its 10th Annual Pumpkin Patch Fun Festival.

THIRTY YEARS AGO (1993)

Gatesville chiropractor, Dr. Tommy Davidson, was giving treatment in exchange for groceries for the Food for Family food drive.

Veterans Leon R. Waddel and Carl Snow were presented with 75th-anniversary WWI commemorative medals.

Richard and J.B. Littlefield placed first at the 1993 Coryell County Hay Show.

Gatesville’s Masonic Lodge No. 197 awarded Dawson Cooper with a 60-year pin.

First Baptist Church of Gatesville’s pastor, Dr. Jay C. Riley, was elected to the executive board of the Baptist General Convention of Texas.

FORTY YEARS AGO (1983)

A turkey shoot was held at Wooley Tools.

Eleven Gatesville Junior High School Band members were awarded all-district or all-region honors at a competition at Connally High School.

The remodeled Guaranty Bank & Trust Co. held an Open House. 

Leaird’s was selling Levis 501 jeans for $12.88 each.

Gatesville High School’s football team beat Groesbeck – their 7th victory of the season.

FIFTY YEARS AGO

Gatesville’s new water tower received its finishing touches.

Gatesville made a $37,341/67-acre tract land purchase as the site for a new landfill.

A subsidy enabled Gatesville ISD to lower milk cost for students.

Jeff Miller and Melinda Young were coronated as Jonesboro High School’s King and Queen of their annual harvest carnival.

Jayne Lewis, Mrs. Bill Loden, and Donna Loden, all from Pearl, won 1st places in their divisions at the District 8 Make-It-Yourself-With-Wool Contest held in San Marcos.
