Students learn how to prepare pancakes

Posted

Karie Bartlett, an employee with the Gatesville Public Library, recently conducted a “Pizza and Pancakes Teen Cooking” night class for the library’s theme of the month for the youth in the community.

The first class in the series, held on Thursday, Jan. 4, focused on cooking pancakes, instructing students ages 14-17.

Bartlett instructed the students how to make pancakes on griddles. She also taught them the importance of washing their hands prior to cooking, food safety in the kitchen, and how to follow a recipe.

Additional “Pizza and Pancakes” classes will include one for students ages 14 to 17 on Thursday, Jan. 18, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Another class for ages 11 to 13 will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 23, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The library will feature a new theme each month.

The Gatesville Public Library is located at 111 N. 8th Street.
