Several Gatesville High School CTE students advance to state

Many students who are members of the Career and Technology Education (CTE) program at Gatesville High School competed in a rigorous Skills USA competition this past weekend and dominated in an assortment of categories.

The students include:

  • Kinsley Wrisk is an auto tech student who will compete at the state level with her cylinder head project.
  • Carley Dowling and Addison Woods are welding students who will compete at the state level.
  • Dutch Nielsen and Kase Cox are construction students who will be competing at the state level with their outdoor bar project.
  • Easton Keeney and Terri Gooden are construction students who will be competing at the state level with their folding picnic table project.
  • Rex Owens and Brayden Mills are construction students who will be competing at the state level with their coffee table project.
  • Ada Hardcastle is a construction student who will be competing at the state level with his coffee table project.

Skills USA serves as an extension to many of the CTE classrooms and focuses on supporting students as they engage in their hands-on skills against current industry standards. The program empathizes with career readiness skills such as teamwork, commitment, professionalism, and leadership to fuel career and life success.
