Retired teachers to meet Nov. 17

Posted

The next meeting of CRSP (Coryell Retired School Personnel) will be held on Thursday, Nov. 17, at Ranchers' Steakhouse. Social time will be held at 9:30 a.m., and the regular meeting will begin at 10 a.m.

The program for our November meeting will be "Count Your Blessings," presented by Dr. Rev. Dewey "Buddy" Wheat. Then a brief history of The TRTA Foundation will be presented.

Members are reminded to bring a count of volunteer service hours for Debbie Grmela. They may also pick up their yearbook and pay their dues if you have not already done so.

A reminder that on Saturday, Dec. 3, some of the members are going to Cleburne for lunch and to see a performance of "A Christmas Carol" presented by the Plaza Theatre Company at 3 p.m. Those interested in attending but have not signed up, please contact Gayla Linton as soon as possible.

A brief report on their activities at the Boozaar: They set up three tables of free books on the Presbyterian Church parking lot, and probably gave away about 175 books (and candy, of course) to youngsters who stopped by. A lot of children were happy to pick up one or more books, and many parents expressed their approval at the idea of giving away books. Gail Johnson (a.k.a. "Little Red Riding Hood"), JoAnne Sugg, and Marsha Lee watched the tables and helped with books and candy, but Fran Henshoher, Sue Vernon, Linda Davis, and Mary Bruton also stopped by to offer help.

The Presbyterian Church area was very popular with activities including a bounce house and a dunking booth. CRSP plans on doing this again next year.

They hope to see everyone at the meeting, and hope everyone will enjoy a Happy Thanksgiving on the following Thursday (which would have been their regular meeting date).
