The annual Thanksgiving meal at the Pearl Community Center was a big hit again this year.

There were around 80 in attendance, and everyone reports a wonderful time of food, fellowship, and praising the Lord. The day began with a combined service with Pearl Baptist Church and Pearl Community Fellowship Church. Members of the Pearl Church of Christ joined the lunch after their 10:30 a.m. service for the delicious meal complete with turkey, dressing, and many fabulous sides and desserts. Thank you to all who participated in this annual event in any way. You made it a great day in Pearl!

Don’t forget that the next Bluegrass and Pearl Cottage Bookstore day is Dec. 2. Be sure and visit both places and bring lots of friends and family to enjoy the day, too. You will be so glad you did, because, as always, there’s no place like Pearl.

If you’re looking for ways to help out during the Christmas season in your community, please keep in mind that The Care Center in Gatesville is collecting “Food For Families.” Just drop off your non-perishable food items there, or even just leave a cash/check donation. Also, check out the Evant School Angel Tree donations. Just go by the Evant School office to make your donations.

There are several people in the Pearl area in need of prayer due to illness right now. Please just pray for the health of our Pearl people. The Lord knows who they are, and there’s power in prayer!

Around this time of year, you’ll see manger scenes pop up in various locations around the Pearl and surrounding areas. Let’s see how many we can display in Pearl. What a great reminder that Jesus IS the reason for the season!

This week’s Bible verse comes Philippians 4:5, 6, and 7—Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving present your requests to God. Please pray for continued blessings of rain, for our veterans and service men and women, our country, our schools, and Israel.
