A 68-year-old Oglesby man was arrested and booked at the Coryell County Jail after allegedly aiming a firearm at two individuals while children were in the home, according to four filed complaints.

Gary Beaty has been charged on two accounts of using a deadly weapon and two accounts of endangering a child younger than 15 years old.

Deputies with the Coryell County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to an Oglesby residence at the 100 block of Boone Ave. around 8:25 p.m. on Saturday.  A man inside the home at the time of the incident told deputies that Beaty used a .45 caliber handgun to fire two shots at him.

After the second round was discharged, the man said he was able to confiscate the gun from Beaty.

A woman in the home told authorities that Beaty aimed the gun at her before firing the two shots at the man. She named two children who were in the next room when the shots were fired. The complaint read the woman took the children next door to a relative’s house shortly after the incident occurred.

A spokesperson for the Coryell County Sheriff’s Office said no one inside the home was shot.

Two bullet holes and two shell casings were discovered at the residence after authorities investigated the scene, per the complaints.

Deputies found Beaty sitting in a chair inside the home before taking him into custody. He was booked at the Coryell County Jail on Sunday and is being held on a $120,000 bond.
