Oglesby ISD to host FAFSA Night Jan. 31

Posted

Oglesby Independent School District will hold a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) night for students on Wednesday, Jan. 31, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. The event will be held in the computer lab on campus.

The newly updated FAFSA form has begun a soft launch for the 2024 to 2025 school year. Each year graduating seniors must complete this as a graduation requirement.

The first step is to create an FSA ID. To begin, visit https://studentaid.gov/fsa-id/create-account/launch and click get started. To start the next phase, a social security number will be required. If you need to obtain your number, contact the school guidance counselor Mrs. Nichols.

The approval process typically takes two to three days, meaning it is important to complete this first step as soon as possible.

The following list entails what to bring to FAFSA night:

  • Parent’s 2022 tax returns (1040 or 1040A and W-2).
  • Student’s 2022 tax return or W-2 (if the student worked).
  • Parent’s social security or ITIN number (if they have one).
  • Student’s social security number (to create FSA ID).
  • Parent’s date of birth, email, and phone numbers.
  • Balance of parent’s cash, savings, and checking accounts.
  • Parent’s marriage date (if separated or divorced, date is needed as well).
  • Records of untaxed income (child support, worker’s comp., etc.).
  • Net worth of parent’s businesses or investments (if applicable).

Oglesby ISD can schedule appointments during the day if the evening of the FAFSA night does not work for you.
