Meadows resident Robert Lay enjoys an evening at Night to Shine

Posted

This past month on Friday, Feb. 9, Meadows resident Robert Lay attended the Night to Shine prom event which was sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation.

Night to Shine is a worldwide movement, led by churches, that shares the love of Jesus and celebrates the worth and value of those with special needs. The Tim Tebow Foundation has provided support since 2010, along with resources that enable a church to host a prom night to reach people in different communities with special needs.

This year, the Night to Shine event was held at the Crestview Church of Christ in Waco, where the focus was on Lay, who was treated like a king.

He was pampered with a shoeshine and boutonniere. Then he got to ride in a limousine to the red carpet, where he was then cheered on and greeted by members of the community and paparazzi.

Upon arrival at the main hall of the church, he had his photo taken, dined on catered snacks and treats, and danced the night away. He was very fond of the karaoke room and got to play some games in the game room as well.

He was also able to meet one of his favorite television personalities: Channel 10 news reporter Julie Hays.

The highlight of the night was when he was named as one of the prom kings and was crowned.
