Jim Hall, age 73, passed from this life on Monday, January 9, 2023, in Gatesville.

Memorial services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 14, 2023, at Gatesville Church of Christ in Gatesville, with Ministers Austin Wright and Kent Jobe.

Jimmy Dwayne Hall was born in March of 1949, to the late Donald and Ann Hall in Comanche.  He married Jan Nickel in June of 1970 and started preaching that summer. He continued in full time ministry until 2021.  He preached in Gordon, Granbury, Valley Mills, Comanche, Gorman, Ranger, Early, Terrell, again in Ranger, Clyde, and Gatesville.  Jim spent many years in summer Christian camps, beginning at Thorp Springs and later at Lake Cisco Christian Camp.  His life was blessed in so many ways by the staff and campers with whom he worked, played, and worshiped.  While in Comanche he was able to teach and coach at Comanche Jr. High and High School.  Many have heard his stories of those years and he continued to stay in touch with some of the boys on those teams.  Jim was always active in the communities he served. He worked as an EMT in Granbury, Ranger Volunteer Fire Department, and rode regularly with the Early Police Department.  While in Terrell, he went to the police academy and graduated head of his class.  He obtained a master peace officer certification and worked with police and sheriff’s departments in multiple locations.  Jim’s law enforcement experience provided him a way to be a loving messenger to share the love of God.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Natalie Grace Hall and niece, Debra Fox.

Jim is survived by his wife, Jan Hall; three children, J.J. Hall Anderson and husband, Brett, Justin Hall and wife, Michelle, and James Hall and life partner, Erik; sister, Donna Hall Moore and husband, Tim.  He was a loving PawPaw to Ryan Anderson and wife, Kassidy, Andy Anderson and wife, Sabrina, Lesli Anderson Jacoby and husband, Eli, Jimmy Hall, John Hall, and one great- grandson, Samuel Anderson.  Jim also loved two special people that were added to his family through life circumstances, Hope Mayfield Skibitsky and Doug Johnson.  He is Uncle Jim to Will Moore and wife, Jessica, Wes Moore and wife, Monica, and two great-nieces, Holland and June.  Jan’s family loved him also:  Winona and Sonny Balch, Winston and Nona Nickel, and Richard and Reneé Nickel; nieces and nephews, Danny Balch and wife, Tania, David Nickel and wife, Kristi, Charley Nickel, Eric Nickel and wife, Jenny, Carissa Hernandez and husband, Joey, and Emily Nickel; and many great-nieces and nephews he loved.  He was loved by many aunts and uncles while growing up in Comanche.

In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to Jim’s lifelong passion of sharing Christ to young people at Lake Cisco Christian Camp, c/o of Nocona Church of Christ, 311 Cooke St., Nocona, TX 76255.

There is no way to acknowledge or even know all the lives he touched and changed through his love, kindness, and generosity.  If Jim’s love touched your life, acknowledge that love by living your life following Christ, loving one another as you, WALK WITH THE MASTER.
